Google Chairman Eric Schmidt gave a speech at the University of Cambridge in the UK on Monday, the first in a series of lectures as a visiting professor, in which he offered his visions of the future as the remaining 5 billion people in the world without Internet access become connected in coming years. Not all of Schmidt’s projections were heartening, with the Google exec predicting that drones could find use as weapons by terrorists and criminals, and that hackers could steal a person’s online identity and ransom it off in a kind of “virtual kidnapping.” Watch video of the full 45-minute speech below, via Cambridge:
