Google on Friday announced another content partnership to bolster the information served up by its Field Trip app for Android smartphones, a location-based app that automatically alerts users to interesting sights and destinations around them. Google has now partnered with Art Nerd New York, a city art guide/blog that began as a Tumblr in 2009. Google said the partnership will help Field Trip users in NYC “discover hidden and unique art and art history.” Field Trip was developed by a skunkworks group within Google called Niantic Labs, which also developed the augmented reality game Ingress and which envisions a future of “ubiquitous computing.”
