Google announced on Wednesday on its Gmail blog that it will continue to make its internet voice calling feature through Gmail (Google email) available for free to users in the U.S. and Canada throughout 2013.
The move comes after Google previously introduced the feature as a freebie for these countries in 2010 and extended it for free in 2011 and 2012, as TechCrunch reported. Other countries still have access to the feature, but it costs money, though “insanely low rates,” in the words of Google Voice product manager Mayur Kamat.
