Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said at a Thursday Axios event that while President Donald Trump’s calling the press the “enemy of the people” drives partisanship, news outlets have “earned it.”
Per Axios, he added that the “tribalization” of cable channels like CNN — which on Wednesday was sent an explosive in the mail — is one of the main factors driving people apart.
Crawl back in your hole, Newtie…
Well, I’ll give him this much: it really doesn’t help to hear from people like Gingrich, who boasts about his legacy of hate and divisiveness. So why put him on the air? Oh yeah, ratings and money, silly me.
And we have liftoff.
Predicted these words would come out earlier this morning, sort of expected it from Trump, but Newt serves as the conveyor belt of dehumanizing violent rhetoric this time. I guess it comes full circle because the GOP nonsense really accelerated under his watch.
Sigh…we are in a bad state of affairs.
If Republicans actually believe they have a strong case to make that journalists are the enemies of the American people, they should have the stones to go arrest some of them for whatever crimes have been committed, then try to make the case in court.
Weird how they don’t do that, that they instead feel the need to radicalize some crazies to do the dirty work for them. Almost like there isn’t a real case to be made except in the raw pursuit of power.
Gingrich is as compromised Lindsey and Rand Paul. Not surprising of course, coming from the author of the contract on america.
