Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson has been complaining since the start of his quixotic presidential bid that the debate rules seem to be fiddled to foil him. They’re crafted in such a way that a rival like Jon Huntsman, who actually commands a not dissimilar amount of support in the polls, can appear on stage at the GOP debates, but the New Mexico Governor cannot. He’s speculated that this is largely to do with his main bit of Republican heresy, namely that he supports the legalization of marijuana.

It was hazy over whether he’d be allowed on stage for Thursday’s upcoming Fox News debate. But now the smoke has cleared and it seems the NM governor will indeed be able to take to the floor at the Orlando debate.

Politico reports that Fox News, which is the main host of the debate, extended the invitation to him over the objections of its co-host, the Florida Republican Party. Johnson will not, however, be on the ballot for the party’s straw poll, held the following Saturday.
