The University of Central Florida chapter of Sigma Nu was cleared by a university panel of violating school policy Thursday after an audio recording surfaced of a member saying, “Let’s rape some bitches.”
According to an Orlando Sentinel story published Thursday, the panel of two students and two university employees said fellow fraternity members attempted to calm the man down.
The man is the same one accused of sexually assaulting another UCF student twice in October. He is no longer a UCF student, according to the university.
“We found insufficient information to suggest that Sigma Nu as a fraternity is responsible for the remarks made by this individual,” according to the panel.
A UCF spokesman told the newspaper the ruling is not official without university staff approval. The Sentinel reported that the Sigma Nu remains suspended until then.
A separate Title IX investigation sparked by the audio’s release remains ongoing, and the university has sent the separate sexual assault allegations against the former student to local prosecutors.
TPM has gotten so fucking lame in recent years. Now we have a follow up to a non-story.
Meanwhile Dow down about 800 points in 2 days. China in trouble.
Fuck it, back to Trump and the guy who urinated on a homeless Mexican immigrant.
It’s sofa king lame yet you are still here posting so what does that say about you?
There are still some good stories here, but it’s become clear that in recent months Josh has relegated most of the editing work to the more Gawker oriented staff.
“Attempted to calm him down?” And that’s good enough? An appropriate response would have been to kick him out of the fraternity, permanently ban him from the premises, and report him to the university and police. “Attempted to calm him down” doesn’t even begin to cut it.
So, once again, an organization dedicated to coercing mindless conformity of thought, action and attitude to the norms of the group is deemed not responsible for the actions of a few misguided individuals who have to ruin a good time for everyone by breaking the rules.
