Stephen Colbert almost missed the Summer of Donald Trump.
But on the Tuesday night premiere of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on CBS, the newest edition to late night got in his Trump jabs, taking issue with Trump’s anti-Oreo stance.
Colbert grabbed a package of Oreos and settled in for a quick snack.
“Donald Trump is swearing off Oreos. He claims that Mexico is taking our economy and ripping it in two and they’re scraping out the creamy center and they’re dunking it in milk and oh, god,” Colbert said. “Sort of lost track of my metaphor here. Let’s say the milk is China.”
But he had to finish and get on with the show. “One’s enough. That’s the only Trump story I’ll be treating myself to tonight,” he said.
But Colbert couldn’t control himself around the Oreos: “I deserve one more.”
One quickly turned into two and three and four.
“I’ve got to exercise some discipline. I don’t need to play tape of you to have a successful show!” Colbert said while throwing his Oreos in the trash. “Someone on television should have a modicum of dignity and it could be me!”
After enough footage from the summer of Trump, Colbert just succumbed to the good taste of Oreos.

I love oreo cookies but I got nausea watching him as he scarfed down all those sugary confections in succession. Funny guy…Still eating junk food and doing his impromptu commercials for products he likes to make fun of…Glad he’s holding on to some of his old bits.

I know…my teeth started to ache just watching him eat those things. The Hydroxx quip was great. I hated them…
I laughed so hard my head and shoulders were sagging deskward. Is anyone still worried that Colbert wouldn’t be quite the same without that character? I think his best days could well be ahead of him.
It was glorious. I’m not a fan of the “late night” format, but this was good and promising and the Oreo bit had me LMAO.
