Meg McGuffin, who represented Alabama at the Miss America pageant on Sunday, said Republicans should “absolutely be terrified’ of the surge in popularity by the party’s presidential frontrunner, Donald Trump.
When asked about the celebrity tycoon’s consistent leads in the polls by judge Tara Kyle, McGuffin immediately responded:
I think Donald Trump is an entertainer. And I think he says what’s on a lot of people’s minds but I think that the Republican Party should be absolutely terrified of all the attention that he is taking from incredible candidates like Jeb Bush and Chris Christie, who could absolutely do the job of President of the United States. And if I were a Republican, I would absolutely be terrified of that. Thank you.
McGuffin was named fourth runner-up at the annual Miss America 2016.
Trump is active in the pageant world. Most recently, he bought out NBC Universal’s shares in the Miss Universe Organization and also settled legal disputes concerning the feud that saw their business relationship severed.

So what exactly is she terrified of? Trump attention-getting prowess. Or is she terrified of the job that either Bush or Christie would do as president? I know I am. Very odd phraseology by Miss 'Bama.
One of my friends from high school wrote this on FB this morning:
I am afraid for the nation as a whole, because there are an awful lot of folks out there who feel the way she feels. How in the world can anyone feel that the leader of the Free World should be someone “who doesn’t care what people think and is willing to be hated for the good of the country”?
Have we fallen so far in our fear of the outside world that this should be even remotely considered seriously???
Anyone could do the job, it’s just how BAD will they do the job.
I’d say it’s a tossup between Jeb! Christie and Trump.
Reminds me of this scene from Woody Allen’s “Bananas” where he defends himself against hostile witness, Miss America.
