Donald Trump is overweight and takes a drug for his cholesterol levels but is in otherwise “excellent physical health,” according to a new one-page letter released on Thursday by the GOP nominee’s New York City doctor.

Although Trump’s campaign has promised to release the results of the nominee’s recent physical in a move toward greater transparency, it remains unclear if the letter provides any new information, as its contents mirror what was reportedly disclosed in Trump’s much-ballyhooed appearance this week on “The Dr. Oz Show.”

During the Wednesday taping of the nominee’s appearance on the show, which had been billed as a big reveal, Trump gave Dr. Mehmet Oz a one-page summary of findings from a physical exam by his longtime physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein. The show hasn’t aired yet, but a “sneak peak” of the episode showed Oz asking Trump why he wouldn’t share the results, which prompted the real estate magnate to hand over two sheets of paper.

Whether the results of Trump’s physical would be released, or discussed on the show, at all was an open question until reports of what went on at the taping started trickling out from audience members. Oz had promoted the special by saying he’d analyze Trump’s medical records on the show, but ahead of the taping campaign staffers said plans to do so were never finalized.

Bornstein, who previously wrote a typo-riddled letter superlatively declaring Trump’s “excellent” health, wrote in the letter that he has seen Trump, 70, for more than 30 years. Trump is 6’3″ tall and weighs 236 pounds, according to the letter.

“He takes a lipid lowering agent (rosuvastatin) and a low dose aspirin. He does not use tobacco products or alcohol,” Bornstein wrote.

“Mr. Trump is in excellent physical health,” Bornstein concludes.

The campaign released a statement along with the letter that took shots at Hillary Clinton for taking time off the campaign trail after not initially disclosing a case of pneumonia, which her campaign said caused her to stumble when she left a 9/11 memorial ceremony early because she wasn’t feeling well.

“We are pleased to disclose all of the test results which show that Mr. Trump is in excellent health, and has the stamina to endure — uninterrupted — the rigors of a punishing and unprecedented presidential campaign and, more importantly, the singularly demanding job of President of the United States,” the statement said.

Are those the same numbers as on Oz? (Also, I’m just the tiniest bit interested that some numbers are given, others just characterized as “within the normal range”.)

  4. No mention of those awful terrible bone spurs that kept him from enlisting.

  5. I would be a hell of a lot more interested in a psychological exam. You know, so someone could explain exactly what the hell is wrong with him.

As for his physical well-being, I’ll wait for the autopsy.
