Donald Trump — who says the Bible is his favorite book but is unwilling to cite his favorite verses — is now facing scrutiny for his church-going record.
Marble Collegiate Church, a church in Manhattan which Trump has claimed he attends, told CNN that Trump is “not an active member.”
Earlier this week, when Trump was asked by reporters about his religious practices, he said, “I’ve just had great experiences at church, whether it is Sunday School or whatever it may be, but now I go to Marble Collegiate Church.”
He also said he was “Presbyterian Protestant.” The denomination of Marble Collegiate Church is a Reformed Church in America, according to CNN.
“Donald Trump has had a longstanding history with Marble Collegiate Church, where his parents were for years active members and one of his children was baptized. However, as he indicates, he is a Presbyterian, and is not an active member of Marble,” the church’s statement to CNN said.
“I meant I attend there once a month to get a rent check”…
Everything else he says is fabricated, so why not this too?
They should thank their G-d to be clear of him:
This is SO unfair. Look, he KNOWS the place - he remembers the name, his limo driver’s familiar enough with it that he could take Trump there, and Trumps’ BEEN there - even the folks who run the business there REMEMBER him being there. And why not, really?
Compared to every other church, denomination, franchise, whatever the hell you call it, Trump is BRANDED at that particular one. Did you happen to listen to what that man said? He said - and this is just as valuable as a direct quote - Trump actually PATRONIZES this one. And that makes him a church patron, am I right? That’s what the word means: he’s been there, he’s spent time there, he’s given them his patronage, which is money OR even more valuable than money: Trump’s chosen to lend his name to this particular enterprise. And that means something - there’s real meaning there.
And by the way: have YOU actually read the Bible? Right thru? Have you? It’s a long book, and there’s a lot things in there. Now I’m gonna ask YOU a question: if you go and pick out a few nuggets from a gold mine, does that represent the entire value of that asset? Does it, really? No, of course it doesn’t. It’d be sillly to try and reduce something that big, that fabulous, to a few catch phrases. It’s a silly question, and insulting.
