The Justice Department filed a suit against Alamance County Sheriff Terry S. Johnson of North Carolina on Thursday, alleging his office routinely discriminates against Latinos.

DOJ had investigated the practices of Johnson’s agency, concluding in a report on Sept. 18 that the sheriff’s office routinely discriminated against Latinos. A DOJ press release said the suit was filed because ACSO “declined to enter into meaningful settlement negotiations.”
