I’m automatically attracted to backing down — I just start quitting, it’s like a magnet. Just quit. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a would-be authoritarian without an ounce of courage, they let you do it.
I read another leak that he’s going to ask for bipartisanship in the name of national security. All I can say is if that’s it, after the buildup, people are going to be even more disgusted and contemptuous than usual. Maybe he thinks that’s a killer argument, but luckily it’s not my job to persuade him otherwise. Low energy! Sad.
I still think he’ll do it. The broadcast networks aren’t going to give him another free airtime night. It’s his one chance to go big or go home.
Nothing says decisive leader like equivocating about whether a crisis exists at our border with Mexico. This pivot to acting more presidential gives me increased confidence in Trump’s ability to properly handle the next Puerto Rico hurricane crisis.
