UPDATE: 5:30 p.m. Republican presidential candidate New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie suspended his campaign for the White House on Wednesday and said he left the race “without an ounce of regret,” according to a statement he released on his Facebook.

Reports of the candidates’ intentions swirled all day — but confirmation came after those who met with Christie told multiple media outlets that he was dropping out.

Christie would not have been able to qualify for the next Republican presidential debate after he placed in sixth at the New Hampshire primary.
