Dr. Ben Carson defended his recent claims that the Chinese are involved in Syria during an interview with Yahoo News published on Friday. He said that the Chinese government sells weapons and other supplies in Syria.

“They supply a lot of military equipment and they supply radar equipment and sophisticated monitoring systems. And I don’t think, quite frankly, that you can just send that stuff there and not have a support system for it,” he told Yahoo News’ Katie Couric when she asked about the claim he made during the last Republican presidential debate.

When Couric asked Carson he he believes China has personnel in Syria, he said he would put out information on that soon. He also told reporters on Friday that his campaign would soon release a brief on China’s involvement in Syria.

Couric asked Carson to respond to those who don’t believe he has enough foreign policy experience to be president.

“When you look at the field of people — I don’t know of anybody who has a great deal of foreign policy experience who’s running for president right now,” he responded. “But I do know from my experience as a neurosurgeon who’s done some very, very complex operations, some of which had never been done before, that I don’t know everything.”

He said that he would bring in experts on foreign policy and the military.

“We have a lot of people in this country who know a great deal more than I do about foreign policy, and I recognize that, and we will be utilizing them,” Carson said.
