Ann Coulter thinks that if Michelle Obama wants to engage in diplomacy over Twitter, the first lady should be using the hashtag “I’m married to an idiot.”
“It’s utterly pathetic and embarrassing,” the conservative pundit said Wednesday on Fox News’ “Hannity,” in reference to Michelle Obama’s advocacy for abducted Nigerian schoolgirls.
“I mean this guy Obama has done to America in eight years what it took 100 years to happen to the British Empire … we lost our power throughout the world and these idiots think that a hashtag is some major policy initiative,” she added. “How about Michelle Obama have ‘hashtag I’m married to an idiot.'”
“Oh boy, you just made your headline,” host Sean Hannity quipped.
Coulter had been widely lampooned after she posted a photo Sunday to Twitter of her holding a sign reading “#BringBackOurCountry.” Coulter’s photo was itself part of a conservative meme that mocked the first lady for supporting the #BringBackOurGirls social media campaign, which called attention to the hundreds of Nigerian girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.
Asked what role the U.S. should take in the search for the missing girls, Coulter told Hannity she was against military intervention.
“It’s kind of a pathetic gesture when we can’t even protect our own ambassador. We can’t take these case by case … We should not be involved or using the American taxpayers’ dollars and American blood to be militarily intervening anyplace, unless it helps the United States of America.”
