Sheesh, the Deepwater Horizon rig was built by Hyundai and I’m only finding this out now? No wonder.
Late Update: TPM is currently under siege from a pack of feral literal-minded readers over this post. Send us encouragement and bandages.
Last week we brought you the story of Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH), whose top aide was targeted by the Office of Congressional Ethics and then drew up legislation to strip the Office of most of its powers. The underlying story had to do with one of her top aides, Chief of Staff Kelly Mobley, coached witnesses to cover up potentially unethical conduct related to some Caribbean junkets.
Fudge’s proposal is supported by 19 fellow members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including several who are themselves involved in other recent or on-going ethics probes. We followed up to ask all nineteen why they were supporting Fudge’s proposed changes to the powers of the office.
Not one agreed to comment or explain their position.
A father and son duo have been arrested for threatening to kill Rep. Bart Stupak over his vote for Health Care Reform.
Threats to kill members of Congress are, regrettably, a dime a dozen nowadays but Russell Hesch gets some points for literary originality for writing “Without going into great detail and potentially spoiling the surprise of your fate I wonder if you have ever watched the Showtime Series Dexter? I have been a faithful fan since its inception. I believe that this show stirs a primeval emotion that is within us all just waiting to be explored.”
More concretely Hesch threatened to “paint the Mackinaw Bridge with the blood of you and your family members.”
Sue Lowden’s campaign is saying they think GOTV can save her on the ground today since Sharron Angle, who’s way ahead in the polls, only has outside money, not field organization.
I can’t think of many limping establishment candidates who used killer GOTV to erase a ten point margin in a three or four person race. But this one’s unpredictable.

I’m having a hard time believing that after tonight Harry Reid may be well positioned to stay in the Senate.
I thought Fiorina was falling apart and that Campbell, despite a sort of anonymous campaign, would take it. But look how it turned out.
