I mentioned this morning that Mitt Romney’s campaign was getting off to a shaky start on day one of the general election campaign by operating entirely within President Obama’s campaign narrative, playing on Obama’s turf. And already today we’ve had another example — beyond pure messaging — why this is a problem. The campaign scheduled a press call today to walk their ‘Obama’s War Against Women’ through with reporters. But it became clear pretty quickly they really hadn’t thought through quite what that meant beyond a slogan. Read our report on the call here. That’s another danger of living inside your opponent’s campaign story.
