Let me say this on the issue of “no ride” lists in general. As some longtime readers know, I’ve only slowly made my peace with air travel. And I’m an avid train rider. In addition to our subway system, which is kind of a train, I ride down to DC and back every few weeks. So I don’t make light of any terror threat. But I remember that when I first heard that in his final days bin Laden had been sketching out the idea of a 10th anniversary al Qaeda attack on a US train I couldn’t help but thinking was a pretty telling commentary on the group’s diminished reach, capacity and ambitions.
