Loose Cannon

As stated, I think this is a little too clunky. But there’s a germ of an idea here.

Count me somewhat startled. You have reported several ads McCain have aimed at diehard Clinton supporters. I have heard nobody advocate Obama should aim some ads at disaffected conservatives, certainly a fertile area for prospective votes. An ad along the lines “John McCain, a real conservative,…..or,….just another neoconservative with a reckless foreign policy agenda…” This would segue easily into recounting his “bomb, bomb, Iran”, his 100 years war, his reckless and mindless meddling in Georgia. It could also put forward some of Obama’s appeal to both conservatives and liberals (on certain issues).

It is certainly a perennial question why the Republicans seem willing to break every unwritten “rule”; and the Dems seldom think outside their assigned role (box).

There’s a significant following of people who think of themselves as conservatives, hold many viewpoints on key issues which are conservatives but still feel very suspicious of the kind of berserk and manic foreign policy approach represented by President Bush and even more by John McCain. Hitting that point could be a way not only for Obama to stir some questions among those voters but it also gives him a nice vantage point from which to hit McCain’s instability, lack of mature grounding.
