I did not realize that The Atlantic had, it seems, given my dear friend Josh Green a full fledged blog at their site. (Josh has been one of the magazine’s premier writers for going on a decade now.) This is actually a grievous blow to TPM as it will probably mean many fewer tips and leads that I can use un-sourced to sound smart and well-sourced at TPM. But it can be a boon for you as a reader. So on that basis I shall pass on the link.
Since it’s late and I’m putting off writing tomorrow’s ed memo, here’s some trivia. Back in I guess 1999 or 2000 I was working over in an office near the corner of Vermont and K Street in DC trying to make myself useful as the DC Editor of the American Prospect. And back in that gig I was the one who hired — or perhaps better to say got the bosses to hire — Josh to work at the Prospect from of all places Playboy — what I imagine is an extremely uncommon career trajectory. But that’s another story. Anyway, if my memory serves, I started getting calls from Josh pitching me on different story ideas, the first I think being something on far-right Christian politics. And one thing led to another until we hired him as a staff writer at the Prospect. In any case, I’m dorkily proud of this sliver of a role in his rise to greatness.
