One part of the debt limit equation that gets little attention is that even though he controls the majority, Speaker Boehner quite likely can’t pass a debt ceiling increase with only Republican votes — because a small but significant number of House Republicans say they won’t vote for any debt limit under any circumstances. So he’ll probably need at some some Dem buy-in. But now Steny Hoyer is saying Boehner shouldn’t expect any help from his caucus as long as Boehner sticks to his cuts-only ultimatums.
