I want to keep the blog open. So I’m going to take this mainly after the jump. But we’re getting very geographically widespread reports of this quake.
In the previous thread, I expressed some skepticism about a report from one reader of feeling the quake in Wisconsin. I want to be clear: I wasn’t skeptical of the person doing the reporting. But that’s very far afield for where a quake gets felt. So I wanted to be clear that it should be treated as unconfirmed, etc., only the report of a single individual.
But we’re now getting reports of many people feeling the quake in Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh. So feeling it in Wisconsin sounds much more likely.
Let us know what you’re hearing and even more, what you felt.
2:32 PM: Reports now from South Carolina, Louisville, Toronto, Columbus, OH. It now seems clear this was felt through the Upper South, all up the Northeast, with the possible exception of Maine, and then pretty much across the Upper Midwest almost to the Mississippi River. Lots of reports of tremors through Ohio, Michigan and Western PA.
