And the AP has called the West Virginia Governor’s race for Tomblin (D). Historically, West Virginia has been such a Democratic state that at one level it’s no surprise. But at the national level, West Virginia has become a strongly Republican state in the last decade. And Republicans made a big push to take this race with carpet-bombing anti-Obama campaign ads. But it didn’t work.
