TPM’s Sara Jerde wrote about Barack Obama’s claim that he could win a third term if he ran for president again. In the same speech, President Obama said, “I’ll be honest with you—I’m looking forward to life after being president. I won’t have such a big security detail all the time. It means I can go take a walk. I can spend time with my family. … The point is I don’t understand why people want to stay so long. Especially when they’ve got a lot of money.”

From a TPM Prime member: “After pulling Sandra Bland out of her car and kinda-sorta placing her under arrest, and after handcuffing her behind her back, threatening to “light her up,” pulling and pushing her while knowingly uttering false statements for the benefit of the camera — “Stop moving!” “Stop resisting!” while he was himself moving and manhandling her — the cop and his partner proceeded to take her deliberately out of camera range and beat the crap out of her. So this was legal? A legal arrest? According to our resident TPM “expert” it was. Why, then, if the cop wasn’t going to let her go on her way, didn’t he put her in the police car and take her to jail, instead of taking her deliberately out of camera range, making false statements for the benefit of the audio recording, and proceed to administer a beatdown in which she probably suffered a concussion and what she thought was a broken arm (as she told her friend who was going to bail her out.)”
