BUZZING: Today in the Hive
From a TPM Prime member: “Those intending to vote for Clinton over Sanders , therefore, have to face the reality that they will be getting her foreign policy… that it. It’s true they will be getting the first woman President, but while that has some symbolic value, it’s no more likely to affect women in general than Obama’s being the first black President fundamentally changed black lives. Moreover, like Obama vis a vis blacks, she might have to bend over backwards not to appear to be prioritizing women’s needs to the point of ignoring them. Clinton’s foreign policy is basically Republican-lite…on her best days. She accepts the parameters of the post WWII bi-partisan consensus and is not willing to re-think our support for friendly dictators or reject the AIPAC line on Israel. Her vaunted foreign policy expertise is simply familiarity and embrace of the traditional players and knowing the details involved in supporting the status quo.”
