Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday said that he has been trying to avoid the politics of Washington, D.C.
“This is a city where it’s all politics all the time, and I’m trying to do my best not to pay attention to the politics,” he said in an interview with ABC’s “This Week.” “I know that’s hard to believe, because no one in this town does that.”
Cruz said that his goal is not to make friends in Congress, but to serve Texans, regardless of how his fellow lawmakers view him.
“This is a time for people to step up and do the right thing, and that’s what I’m trying to do,” he said. “Nobody should be surprised, if you’re trying to change Washington that the Washington establishment pushes back.”
