Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) filed cloture Thursday on President Barack Obama’s third nominee to the powerful D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, Robert Wilkins.
It sets up a procedural vote to advance his nomination in the near future, although it has not been scheduled yet.
Republicans filibustered the other two nominees and are expected to filibuster Wilkins, too. The battle implicates the Senate rules as Democrats are threatening to reform the filibuster if the GOP doesn’t ease its mass blockade.
Republicans aren’t taking the Democrats’ “nuclear option” threats seriously.
