The widow of late Rep. Bill Young (R-FL) told former Florida governor Charlie Crist in an email to stay away from her husband’s memorial service, the Tampa Bay Times reported Monday.

The memorial service for Young, who died Friday at age 82, is scheduled for Thursday. Beverly Young instructed Crist, now a prospective Democratic candidate for governor, not to attend the service.

Below is the text of the email, as quoted by the Times:

Charlie:

This e-mail is to officially advise you that your presence at my husband’s memorial services will be unacceptable. I have watched over the years, as Bill had, your transparent attempts to manipulate the political arena. I don’t want my husband’s memorial service to be another opportunity for that and I will not tolerate anyone turning this into a platform for political gain.

Please honor my family’s request.

Sincerely,

Beverly Young

Widow of Congressman Bill Young
