The Senate plan to fund the government and raise the debt ceiling would grant the District of Columbia budget authority through Sept. 2014.
Although the plan funds the federal government through Jan. 15, the bill would allow the D.C. government to spend its own money for much longer, according to the Washington Post.
The District raises $6 billion in local funds for city operations, according to the Post, but is subject to Congressional appropriations under the city’s home rule charter.
