The leaders of both parties from both chambers of Congress, along with chair persons and ranking members of the relevant committees, attended Tuesday’s White House briefing on the situation in Syria.
The in-person briefing was part of the Obama administration’s broader strategy to accrue congressional support for limited air strikes against the Assad regime. That outreach has included conference calls with members of both parties, as well as in-person briefings with select members of Congress.
