A number of supporters of San Diego Mayor Bob Filner held a rally on Monday in support of the embattled Democrat, who has been accused of sexual harassment by more than a dozen women.

A reporter for CNN said on-air that the assembly sang “We Shall Overcome,” and the network aired some footage of the event.

“Due process for Mayor Filner and due process for the accusers!” one speaker, Enrique Morones, told the crowd. “Let’s get back to business of moving the region forward with Mayor Bob Filner.”

According to ABC News Political Director Rick Klein, one letter read at the rally quoted a woman saying she had known Filner 30 years, “and he never sexually harassed me.”

Filner had vowed to return to work on Monday after undergoing two weeks of therapy, but there was no sign of the mayor at city hall when it opened for business Monday morning.
