New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez’s inner circle leaked documents earlier this year that implicated both a teammate and a former National League most valuable player Ryan Braun in baseball’s performance enhancing drug scandal, CBS News reported Friday.
According to the report, members of the Yankee third baseman’s circle leaked the documents in February, days after Miami New Times published documents that provided details of Rodriguez’s history of doping. The documents that were published in Miami New Times included redacted names of other players.
Confidants of Rodriguez reportedly obtained and leaked unredacted versions of the documents to Yahoo Sports, implicating Milwaukee Brewers star Braun and fellow Yankee Francisco Cervelli. Both Braun and Cervelli have been suspended by Major League Baseball for doping.
An attorney for Rodgiuez denied the allegations in a statement to CBS.
