New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, released a new ad Saturday, urging lawmakers to act on gun control on the one year anniversary of the Aurora, Colo. movie theatre shooting.
The ad features a survivor of the shooting recalling what happened that night when gun shots were fired at the midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.” The one-minute video started airing Saturday in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.
“What struck me most after was just how arbitrary it was,” shooting victim Stephen Barton said in the ad. “Where we decided to sit, whether we had any chance to escape. And why it had to happen to us at all? And who will be next?”
Correction: This post has been updated to show the name of the movie was “The Dark Knight Rises.”
