The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a lawsuit Tuesday with a federal court in Harrisburg, Pa. aimed at legalizing same-sex marriage in the state, the New York Times reported.

As the Times noted, the suit is one of the first in what’s expected to be a long line of legal challenges intended to reverse state-level bans on gay nuptials following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Pennsylvania would join 13 other states, as well as the District of Columbia, where same-sex marriage is legal.

The 23 plaintiffs in the ACLU’s suit include 10 couples and a widow.
