John Oliver checked in on the saga surrounding Edward Snowden during Monday’s broadcast of “The Daily Show,” mocking the flight from Moscow to Cuba that was boarded by several journalists but not the National Security Agency leaker.
“That’s right. Somehow Edward Snowden’s layover in Moscow ended with a dozen journalists on a Russian airliner’s 12-hour flight to Cuba that Edward Snowden wasn’t even on,” Oliver observed. “Or, so they could collectively get 12 exclusive photos of an empty chair. They were literally reporting on nothing.”
But the U.S. government’s inability to track Snowden left Oliver a bit more surprised.
“Because for a while there, Edward Snowden had me believing that the U.S. government was all-seeing, all-knowing and all-powerful,” Oliver said. “But after this weekend, they’ve got me even more convinced that they couldn’t find the front of a human centipede if their mouth was sewn to its ass.”
