Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) reiterated Tuesday that Democrats cannot count on his vote if they decide to reform the filibuster via the nuclear option with a bare majority of Senate votes.

The retiring Michigan senator told TPM he won’t reconsider his position even if Republicans mount a mass filibuster of President Obama’s upcoming judicial or cabinet nominees.

“My position won’t change depending on — we ought to force them to filibuster,” Levin said in the Capitol. “That’s my position.”

Democrats currently have 54 votes in the chamber and need at least 50 to successfully reform the filibuster with the never-before-used nuclear option.
