Lois Lerner, the head of the Internal Revenue Service exempt division where improper targeting of conservative groups took place, was placed on administrative leave on Thursday, according to the Hill.
Lerner invoked the Fifth Amendment this week in refusing to testify before a House oversight committee, but Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) believes she waived that right when she delivered an opening statement in which she proclaimed her innocence. Lerner’s attorney disputes that reasoning, but Issa plans to make her appear again nevertheless. An immediate date has not yet been set.
National Review first reported Lerner’s administrative leave.
