House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) sat down with CNN’s Jake Tapper Wednesday and reacted to President Obama’s recent criticism of Congress, concluding that it comes with the territory.
Upon arriving in Tel Aviv, Obama told Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “It’s good to get away from Congress.”
Tapper asked Boehner what he makes of the line. “So much for the charm offensive,” Boehner said, adding that he doesn’t believe the remark will carry any real implications.
“I’d rather be heckled than ignored. Or as I like to say, ‘you only tease the ones you love,'” Boehner said.
Tapper’s full interview with Boehner will air at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday on CNN.
