The latest poll from Quinnipiac University on Wednesday showed Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett (R) battling a negative approval rating and heading for a difficult re-election bid — the second poll in as many days to show the first-term Republican in political peril.

According to Quinnipiac’s latest, 39 percent of Pennsylvania voters approve of the job Corbett is doing while 49 percent disapprove. That’s marginally better than the findings released by Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling on Tuesday, which showed a majority of 53 percent of Keystone State voters disapproving of Corbett.

The Quinnipiac poll also showed Corbett looking vulnerable ahead of his 2014 re-election campaign. Fifty-three percent of voters in the state said Corbett does not deserve another term. In hypothetical matchups of next year’s gubernatorial race, former Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) topped Corbett by 9 points and Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA) claimed a 3-point edge. Schwartz has made it clear that she intends to run in the race, while Sestak has not announced his future plans yet.

The PollTracker Average shows Corbett with a negative rating as well.
