During a House hearing on immigration reform Tuesday, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) asked San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro whether immigrants coming to the U.S. today are any different or less hardworking than immigrants of previous generations, referring to negative stereotypes some people hold. Castro said immigrants coming to the U.S. are “just as hardworking, just as patriotic, just as faith-oriented as immigrants of generations before.”
