Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), thought to be a top Republican presidential contender in 2016, said Sunday that it was “premature” to think about running for president now.
“I don’t” think about a 2016 run, Ryan said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “I think it’s just premature. I’ve got an important job to do. I represent Wisconsin. I’m chairman of the budget committee at the time we have the fiscal crisis. I think I can do my job representing the people I work for by focusing on that right now, than focusing on these distant — these distant things.”
Ryan said he will “decide later” on whether to consider seriously running for president.
