Four senior leaders and 30 other alleged members of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas gang were indicted in Houston on racketeering and other charges, federal authorities announced Friday. A grand jury returned a 17-count indictment against them on Oct. 22, and the case was unsealed on Friday. Authorities said 14 were arrested on Friday, 15 were already in custody and five had so far avoided arrest.
Federal authorities charged the members with “involvement in three murders, multiple attempted murders, kidnappings, assaults and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine,” according to a Justice Department news release. Ten of the defendants in the case are eligible for the death penalty while the other 24 defendants face maximum penalties of life in prison, the release said.
