Missouri voters are getting a special mailer from the liberal American Bridge 21st Century PAC for the state’s U.S. Senate race — a talking card that plays back a recording of Republican Rep. Todd Akin’s infamous and false statement about women’s bodies being able to prevent pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape.”
“If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” Akin is heard saying when the mailer is opened up, the Riverfront Times reports Thursday. The card also plays back his views on Social Security, “I don’t like it,” and federal student loans, “the stage-three cancer of socialism.”
