Republican Rep. Frank Guinta has a big lead over Democrat Carol Shea-Porter in the race to represent Congress in New Hampshire’s first district, according to a poll released Friday from the University of New Hampshire (UNH). Guinta tops Shea-Porter 45 percent to 35 percent, which is a big shift from a UNH poll from two weeks ago that showed Shea-Porter with a 46 percent to 35 percent lead over Guinta.

“This is the first time that Guinta has led in in 2012, but caution should be exercised in interpreting these results as the margin of sampling error is +/-6.9% and findings are less stable than if a larger sample had been interviewed,” UNH wrote in its analysis.

The PollTracker average shows Guinta at 41.7 percent and Shea-Porter at 38.7 percent.
