Soledad O’Brien and RNC Chairman Reince Priebus sparred over whether or not Mitt Romney’s statements on abortion over the past two days were contradictory on CNN’s “Starting Point” Thursday morning. On Tuesday, Romney said “there’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.” On Wednesday, Romney promised to defund Planned Parenthood and reverse the Mexico City policy.
Priebus said they weren’t contradictory because, on Tuesday, “what [Romney’s] referring to is whether or not there were piles of legislation in the Congress, what specific bills in the Congress, in regard to abortion are you going to…”
After going back and forth over whether or not Romney contradicted himself, Priebus said asked O’Brien to go after President Obama like she does Romney. “Soledad, I wish you would be as passionate about taking Barack Obama to task for every one of his promises and for every one of his changes that he didn’t follow through on,” he said.
“I’ve got to tell you, we’ll ask tough questions of everybody, I don’t care what side they’re on,” O’Brien replied.
