Instagram had more daily active users on mobile devices for the month of August than did Twitter, according to a yet-to-be published report from third-party tracking firm comScore obtained by All Things D.
Instagram, a popular photo sharing app for the iPhone and Android devices that was acquired by Facebook for $1 billion in April, had 7.3 million monthly active daily users compared to Twitter’s 6.7 million during the same period, the report states.
Aside from indicating the phenomenal growth of Instagram, which launched in October 2010 compared to Twitter’s March 2006 launch date, the new stats likely add insult to injury as far as Twitter is concerned: The company reportedly was in early talks to acquire Instagram before Facebook swooped in.
