It was just a few days ago that Facebook and Instagram announced that Facebook’s $1 billion acquisition of the immensely popular photo sharing app had been officially completed. But on Monday, Kevin Systrom, co-founder of Instagram, used his product to share images of his 16-member team’s first day of work at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
Here’s the first image Systrom posted on Instagram on Monday, captioned “First day in the new offices! Can’t wait to show everyone what’s next! What’s the new feature you want most in Instagram?”
Here’s the second image, posted about eight hours later, captioned “Heading home after a great first day.”
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently said in his first post-IPO interview that he remained committed to keeping Instagram a stand-alone brand, but providing it with Facebook’s internal resources, at least for the foreseeable future. Zuckeberg also said Instagram had 100 million users across the two smartphone platforms on which it is presently available, Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android OS for smartphones.
