Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod said Thursday on “CBS This Morning” that President Obama was unaware the Democratic Party platform had originally omitted a sentence calling Jerusalem the capital of Israel until Wednesday. On Wednesday, Obama asked the 2012 platform committee to include a mention of God and support for Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“He had some other duties and responsibilities and so when he learned that what had been in the platform had been taken out, he said, ‘put it back in,'” Axelrod said.

White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, who also appeared on the show, said she didn’t believe Obama was aware the Jerusalem section of the 2008 platform had been taken out until Wednesday.
