Al Jazeera reports that Syrian rebels claim to have shot down one of the Assad regime’s helicopters outside Damascus. A video shows the helicopter flaming out of the sky, though it is unclear why it crashed.
The crash comes amidst intensifying fighting near Damascus, including a potential massacre that saw more than 300 people killed in the Daraya district. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told Al Jazeera approximately 320 bodies were found after government forces, according to rebels, implemented house-to-house raids and executions.
