The Obama campaign features former President Bill Clinton in a new ad out today. In the ad, Clinton says President Obama is the candidate more likely to return the U.S. to full employment. The Republican plan, Clinton says, is to cut taxes on the wealthiest Americans.
The Romney campaign’s emphsis on welfare, signed by Clinton, has been used as a way to drive a wedge between Obama and the popular former president; the Romney campaign has labeled Obama far to the left of Clinton. This new ad — and Clinton’s primetime speaking slot at the convention — will help to cement an alliance between the former and current president and repudiate those attacks.
“We need to keep going with (Obama’s) plan,” Clinton says. The ad will run in New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.
